The Yoshida Shuzo was founded in Ishikawa in 1870. The brewery has a long history and the sake made from local rice and the famous water of Mount Hakusan has been the favorite not only for locals but of sake lover from all over Japan for over 150 years. The lovely documentary “The Birth of Sake” als revolves around the brewery, which won several awards in 2015 and is a tribute to the 2000 year old history of sake brewery that is managed by the sixth generation of Yasuyuki Yoshida.
This Low-alcohol (13%) vintage (koshu) sake of the brandname ‘Tedorigawa’ which uses high malic acid-producing yeast strains and has been matured slowly over twenty years. The name of this sake, “Umaika”, can also mean “delicious” in Japanese. As you taste “Umaika”, the rich flavor softly spreads in your mouth, making you feel “delicious” while enjoying the word game. Intense aroma’s of ripe fruit, pleasant sweetness and fine acidity complement each other harmoniously. Extremely well balanced long aftertaste with a ‘umaminous’ touch that pleasantly fills the palate. Something curious for Sherry lovers.
