OWA is a brewery in Belgium specializing in adding a Japanese element to traditional Belgian beers. They produce three fruit lambics in collaboration with other lambic producers using Sakura (cherry blossom), Ume (Japanese plum), and Yuzu (Japanese lemon), Adzuki ( Red bean ), Momo ( Japanese peach ).
The brewer, Leo Imai, is a chemist who previously brewed at the Kirin brewery in Japan and Pressel Brau in Bavaria, Germany.
It tastes tart and very sour but lot of aging potential.
He made these fruit infused lambic’s with a 2-years old De Troch lambic and aged it for a year in a wooden barrel with the Japanese ingredient. He does a second fermentation (champenoise) in the bottle.
Very limited production of 200 bottles a year.
Look at the magnificent presentation.
